Making a mixtape about making a mixtape

I love the process of making a mixtape. The picking of a theme, the researching tracks, the hunting down songs, putting all the songs together, making sure it's just right before you finalize it and give to its intended recipient. If I could be paid for making mixtapes, I could die a happy man.

On my last assignment, I decided to talk about the process and art form of a mixtape. I talk about how it brings all sorts of creativity to the surface from creating a theme to compiling the right songs to even making the cover art.

And of course, I made a mixtape about the video. A mixtape about making mixtapes with songs that have nothing to do with maing mixtapes.

The Ataris - Song For A Mixtape
Jon McKiel - Somebody's Listening
The Black Ghosts - Any Way You Choose To Give It
Passenger - Do What You Like
Fenix TX - A Song For Everyone
Rocky Volotalo - Mix Tapes/Cell Mates
Midtown - In The Songs
Fever Marlene - Melodies In Four
This Day & Age - We Always Rewind The Best Part
No Second Troy - Burned
Jack's Mannequin - The Mixed Tape

I used to love making mixtapes. Now there are no tapes and an iTunes playlist is a pale imitation.
