No love for Arcade Fire. Sorry.

I know that I'm probably the only person who feels this way, but...

I don't like the Arcade Fire's Neon Bible.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's that great.

I know that it's been on every top 10 list from this end of the blogosphere to the other and I know that I'm pissing off a million people by saying this. I just can't see why everyone keeps putting this album on a pedestal.

Honestly, I got bored listening to it. It's not terrible by any means, but I feel like it was just overly hyped as the greatest album of 2007 and I can't see why.

Put down the rocks, please.

This song's not bad...

So, it has the word Bible in the title. You don't like the Bible? You're going to hell.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I'm so SICK of everyone heaping praise on these guys! Their songs aren't bad, don't get me wrong, but...they're so...blah.

And I think I have a tough time swallowing how pretentious they are. Every song oozes the attitude of, "we are the most credible band, because we don't sell out.We keep it real. And we are so blase about it all." They seem so humourless and take themselves so damned seriously. Jesus! You make music! You don't cure cancer! Gah!

Being a Canadian, these guys are supposed to be on a shrine, as they represent the quality of Canadian music exports (Nickelback? Who's Nickelback?)

Hope you had a good holiday. Cheers,

Kelly the unimpressed Canadian

by no means do i glorify the arcade fire...

but "black mirror" is the most "blah" song on the album.
the build in body is a cage is tremendous, and ocean of noise's sauntering melody makes me sweat appreciation.
maybe you're listening to the wrong songs... or you just don't like them... did you like their first album?

andy, i hear you loud and clear about neon bible. however, i absolutely love funeral. in fact, i just listened to it yesterday and it all sounded just as good as it did when i first heard it.

i think miss fitz is correct when she says they seem humorless on neon bible. they certainly seem to be taking themselves way too seriously, at the very least.

here's hoping they got it out of their systems and will go back to writing some more music we can better identify with. i'm not going to write them off. :)

Yeah well Neon Bible grew on me, it is true like Marcy says it is a much different sound than that of Funeral, Neon Bible is much darker and I think that is kind of what I liked about it. It certainly wasn't the greatest album of the year though I agree with you there.

That, and Arcade Fire sucks live. They are the most boring band I've ever seen live. They don't move, they just belt out the songs they know everyone wants to hear, and they don't communicate at all with the audience. And to make up for how boring they are on stage, they have tons of crazy strobe lights going off in the background that give me a terrible headache.

Bleh, no thank you.

I trolled across a website that list Arcade Fire as one of the most influential indy alt rock bands in history and it felt like the record skipped..First off they missed the indy scene by over a decade and secondly their music is simply hum-drum. I had never even heard of these guys until a year after they supposedly conquered the charts and when I did, I couldn't believe how unoriginal and outright 'simple; their music is. They are nothing vs a 54/40, OLP, Big Sugar or Treble Charge. These are real indy bands that paved the way. These guys are bringing up the rear.
