I love when certain songs take you back to a specific point in your life. Whether it was the best moment of your life or one you'd rather forget, there's no doubt that a song is powerful enough to place you in that one moment of time.
Here are some of my music-related memories in the last few years:
Eisley - Telescope Eyes from
Room NoisesMarch 2005: I remember being very angry with some situation I was going through. I don't even remember what it was about, but I decided to get in my car and drive out of town and up to the nearby mountains where my friends and I would hike, camp and jump off cliffs into the lakes below. Eisley made me relax as I drove the winding mountain roads.
The Solipsistics - Glam Descend from
Jesus of the ApesMay 2005: I woke up at 6am on the morning of my college graduation, put on my cap and gown and listened to this song. I remember how hard this hit me. Here I was leaving all I had known and facing the very scary future.
Matchbox Twenty - Bed of Lies from
Mad SeasonNovember 2005: I went through a very bad break-up with my girlfriend at the time. There was lots of fighting, confusion, anger, sadness and everything in between. We've stopped talking since then for obvious reasons. Listening to this song always reminds me of the pain I was going through.
Josh Joplin Group - Camera One from
Useful MusicMae - Tisbury Lane from
Destination: B-SidesJanuary-July 2006: For seven months, I worked the early morning shift at the local TV station doing the morning newscast. I would go in at 4am and leave at 7am to go to my other job. These two songs will always remind me of those early morning drives watching the sun rise and the day begin.
ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man from
EliminatorMay 2006: My best friend was getting married. The first of my friends to do so. It felt like just yesterday that we were playing this song on Guitar Hero and acting like rock gods. Now, we were growing up and doing things that grown-ups do.
Super XX Man - Coulee City from
XSeptember 2006: Walking around the streets of London in the pouring rain made me feel alive. I was traveling in a foreign city by myself taking in the sights and sounds. I realized that the world is much, much bigger than I had thought. I listen to this and it takes me back to when I was an explorer.
Goldfrapp - Number 1 from
SupernatureChristmas Eve, 2006: I remember lying on the couch and thinking how I was going to be alone for the rest of my life. I was lonely, miserable and not liking myself. I was probably at one of the lowest points in recent memory. Things have changed dramatically since that Christmas Eve, but I still relive that moment whenever this song plays.

Dude,
I really liked this post. I love how music can transport us back to different places and times.
Also, I have a mic now and Tim has my first contribution. I'm excited.
