Cover your ears, people are singing

I've always hated karaoke. I could never stand it when terrible singers unsuccessfully attempt to sing songs like "Don't Stop Believing" and "These Boot Were Made For Walkin" and end up making the audience roll their eyes and put their hands over their ears.

But a few days ago, I added myself to the list of people who think they can sing and went downtown to my favorite bar's Karaoke Night.

I think the best kind of karaoke is when someone goes up and sings something that you completely don't expect, like the large older man who performed Janet Jackson's "Nasty."

After butchering a Beatles song and gaining some steady ground on "Bad Bad Leroy Brown," I found my stride at the end of the night and rocked out on a Fuel song - one that I happen to know by heart. And needless to say, I felt like a rockstar with the microphone in hand and singing my heart out.

Go ahead, sing along.
Fuel - Hemorrhage (karaoke version)

Who knows? Maybe I'll go back to Karaoke Night next week and try it again.

karaoke is good for the soul--just don't drink a whole bottle of wine before you get that mic in your hand! : )
