Hard Rock Hallelujah

I'm scared when I watch this. Really scared. But I can't for the life of me take my eyes off of it. It's not the GWAR-like costumes that scare me. Nor the hellfire. Not even the zombie cheerleaders.

This is the Finnish band Lordi with their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah." It's from the the album The Arockalypse that tells us to prepare for "our day of rockening." Please make it stop.

Do you now see why I'm scared?

Oh Andy, do you know the full, glorious story behind this song? Are you aware that Lordi romped to victory in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with it, stomping over all its cheezee soft folk pop and deesko lite competition? It was truly a great day for music.

OK, I certainly don't mean this to be self-promoting, but may I invite you here for a brief Eurovision tour, and here to see Lordi's victorious 2006 performance (click on the "stormed and stomped" link).

All we need is thunder, power and might...

Fil, no I did not know the story behind this song. Thank you for informing me and for all the links. (hey, self-promote whenever you want!)

Marcy, yes it's all too much. I am eagerly awaiting Ragna-rock!

Yes, wonderful, aren't they?? My four-year-old son loves Lordi, especially the Eurovision video. In fact, he and I were watching it todat for the umpteenth time!

We (here in Denmark) were able to vote by SMS in Eurovision - I voted for this one. Seems a long time ago now.
