Let me tell you a story about the alt-rock band Nine Days. Surely you remember them, right? They had that very catchy, but also very annoying song "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" Their debut album The Madding Crowd fired up the charts back in 2000.
So Happily Unsatisfied, their highly-anticipated follow-up album, was supposed to be released in 2003. Unfortunately, the album never saw the light of day due to complications with their record label, Sony.
The release date of the album was repeatedly delayed by Sony until the band was ultimately dropped from the label. The album was never actually released since Nine Days was no longer with Sony. And since Sony actually owned the rights to all the songs, the band couldn't release the album on another label. Another classic story of how a good band gets screwed over by record executives.
However, thanks to the power of the Internet, So Happily Unsatisfied is available for everyone to hear.
