Attack of the Bens Part II

When searching for new artists, I keep coming across artists with the first name of Ben. I've already encountered Folds, Lee, Kweller, Harper, Arthur, Davis and Gibbard (click here for Attack of the Bens part 1).

Now, I have even more Bens to add to that ever-growing list.

Ben Taylor
Ben Taylor is the son of music giants James Taylor and Carly Simon. He orignally was part of the Ben Taylor Band, but later realized he would rather perform as a solo artist. The talent apparently runs in the family. Taylor's subtle, soft voice and light acoustic rock makes him a natural performer.

Ben Taylor
No, you're not seeing double. There are two musicians out there who answer to the name Ben Taylor. This one comes from the other side of the world. Australia to be exact. Taylor combines soulful rock with hard-hitting power pop beats.

Ben Vaughn
Ben Vaughn has been composing musical scores for television and film for years. His latest album, Designs in Music takes what he has learned as a composer and turns it into an easy listening, instrumental experience.

Ben Moody
Ben Moody is best known as the former lead guitarist of Evanescence. Moody struck out on his own and moved behind the scenes, writing and producing songs for Avril Lavigne, Godhead and Kelly Clarkson. He is now in the process of making his own record, Can't Regret What You Don't Remember, due out sometime next year.

Ben Weaver
This country-rooted singer/songwriter is dark and emotional. His musical performances are reminiscent of Johnny Cash and Tom Waits when he gets into his bluesy moments with a raw and haunting voice. And the words he chooses to express his inner turmoil is nothing less than amazing.

Ben Kenney
Ben Kenney played guitar for The Roots and is currently the bassist for Incubus. Kenney brings with him a sound based in funk and hip-hop and uses that with his soulful lyrics to transition over to the rock world.

It's funny how the planets line up like that sometimes. I just looked through my library and ony find (semi-) pairs: Jamie T/Lidell, Cowboy Junkies/Mouth, DeVotchKa/The Devotchkas, The Go! Team/The Go Find, Huski/Husky Rescue, Sinead O'Connor/Lohan. Odd that.

I like the second Ben Taylor and Ben Kenney quite a lot.
